Riddle of the Day

Why do doctors wear surgical masks?

Answer: So that we would not know their true identities when they give us those painful jabs!

Ouch! Got another jab last weekend for that newma-whatever. Hope that’s the end of it. Really hate those needles.

Anyway, also managed to get a quick update on my growth progress, as of 28 Oct 09:

Height: 86 cm, Weight: 12.5kg,

Teeth: 16 ( I think…not really good with numbers yet..)

What Grade the Rice?

Already past the 10kg in the weight category for some time now, I am constantly compared to being as heavy as a sack of rice.

This got me thinking…if I was a sack of rice, what kind of grade or type would I be? Logically, I think I would be the following:

- 95% beras hancur: being the violent me, I think I would be almost a total destroyer.
- Tempatan: locally born and bred
- Wangi: I sure smell good after my bath. Hee!

18.5 Moon Checkpoint

Went to see my doc last weekend to get another jab for another strange virus I cannot even pronounce. Anyway, I think I heard it was some sort of a booster jab. Doc was really pro in this as he played some jingle as he was preparing the needle. As I was getting distractedly engrossed with the music, the needle went in and out just as the music stopped and I didn't even feel a thing. Now if only those mozzies can learn a thing or two here. Hmmmph.

Also took the opportunity to check on my progress and here it is:

Height: 84 cm (chart shows I'm above average here. All those jumping exercises seem to work!)
Weight: 11kg (chart shows slightly below average. Should pick up once I get my hands on steak!)
Head: 46cm (need to continue to read to build those brain muscles! Hee!)

I've also discovered a weighing scale at home so I should be able to chart my progress on a more regular basis now. ;-)

I am my biggest fan!

A new growth progress! I am now able to twirl my right hand wrist round and round! So, if I am to remove the baby carrier padding and twirl my right hand via my newfound talent, it will look as if I am fanning myself! Now, THAT’s cool!

Wonder if I can apply this talent to turn up the volume of radio knobs or open any doors or not. Hee!

Bottom-Decked

With my growth and passion for using rails to help me stand, Papa and Mama decided that my current cots are not safe for me anymore. My people’s eyebrows lighted up in anticipation that they will replace my crib with my dream water bed!

But alas! All they did was just to make some adjustments to my cot and playpens and now I get to still be inside, on the bottom deck of the pen. Hey, isn’t pen short for prison or something? Hmmm.

Anyway, this would be an interesting new challenge for me to escape from this pen. Maybe TV producers should think of making a series about a man who breaks out of prison. Quite sure it’ll be a hit. Meanwhile, I need some time to assess my situation here first….:-D

Gangster Grip

I have already developed yet another set of offensive weaponry to my arsenal. My Gangster Grip has grown stronger and stronger each day.

It has been known to cause pain to cheeks, arms, legs, nose, ears, or just about anything that can fit inside this fearsome grip. You have been warned…hehehehe…

Mystery of the Shrinking Towels

I have noticed lately that my bath towels have started to shrink. Sometimes to the extent that two towels may be used to dry me up after my bath. Seems like a real mystery to me. I’m quite sure I only put them into my mouth but I still don’t have enough teeth to eat them! Anyway, I hope Papa and Mama is also noticing this mysterious occurrence.

Not sure if they are connected, but I also noticed some of my clothes are also starting to shrink as well. Hmmmm…

Fountain of Goodness

With more and more saliva coming out from my mouth these days, I have started to develop a liking for blowing bubbles. It may seem rude at times, but hey, I’m just enjoying myself!

There happened one day during my feeding sessions where I cheekily kept some of Mama’s goodness in my mouth without swallowing them. Then I waited, and waited, and waited. When the bottle was pulled away from my mouth, I opened wide and with my controlled talent, gave a steady blow that created a fountain of goodness…

Ahhh…now who says babies dunno anything about art? Hee!

Teether Theatre

With my teeth starting to develop already, I keep finding these teethers fed to me like some Happy Meal. They come in various shapes and colours I’m surprised they don’t have some of them coming in steak-flavoured or music embedded?!!

And what about those teethers that are recommended to be chilled first before giving it to babies? I guess that’s how toddlers quickly develop a liking for ice-cream, eh? J

First Class Sits

I seem to be one impatient little fellow. For example, I am already working on my standing before I can even sit or crawl properly! So whenever Papa and Mama sees the opportunity, they will indirectly try to encourage me to learn my sitting stance first (or should it be sittance….hee!).

This can be quite tough as I can hardly sit, let alone sit still! So I guess this would be another item to be filed under ‘Challenges for Parents’ folder.
Here's a pic of me on my first class seat on Mama's lap. Hee!

New Found Fangs

My fangs have sprouted. Hee! Yes, those white stuff aka teeth that adults use to enjoy those wedding dinners and buffet spreads is finally becoming more and more visible in my mouth.

Wonder how long I still need to warm up on those tasteless teethers and sink my fangs into something more juicy. Mmmmmm. I guess the phase of growing teeth is one where babies develop patience. :-D

Yes Sir Yes Sir, Two Bags Full...

Had my last checkup (and more jabs! sigh) last weekend and found that during the weigh in, I have crossed the 7kg mark! Wee!

However doc said I am still a little below the average mark so I might need to buck up or perhaps fatten up a bit more. I am growing longer too, which may explain the challenge for my tummy to catch up. Hee!

Anyway, just for comparison purposes, any adult that carries me now would be equivalent to carrying two 3.5kg bags of dry dog food. :-P

First Contact: Rice

Collected my moon #5 last week! Wee! Some key milestones that came with it:

1. Being fed rice cereal for the first time. Papa and Mama must be surprised to see me taking it in so easily and happily. :-) Mrs D also fed me some the other day and I wolfed down 1.5 tablespoons full. Mmmmm.... I must have inherited good appetite from Papa and Mama. Hee!

2. Dimension-wise not so significant growths - a little cm here, a little cm there, some kgs here and there. Maybe I will grow heavier once I start eating more solids. hey, where's my steak?!

3. On my five moon day, I went out shopping with Papa and Mama to a place called Ikano. Thought they only sold fish there, but apparently there's lot's more. Anyway, I got my first pair of shoes there! Wee! Sorry...no pics on this. Will definitely take a shot soon.

Rash Rash Baby

This is bad. My rashes seems to have come back. And this time more parts of my body seems to have it. Not sure if it is heat related or not. I realize this world is so so so hot compared to the cool dark sanctuary of Mama’s tummy.

Anyway, I went for my fourth moon checkup with my doc last weekend. So Papa and Mama took the opportunity to showcase my rashes to the doc. Doc said the rashes underneath my neck are quite commonly caused by sweat so I guess I’ll be seeing more white powder there. Doc also advised for some baby lotion to applied to my skin. Hopefully, I can rid myself of these rashes soon. They sure don’t look nice on babies. :-(

Fourth Moon report card:

Length: 64.0 cm (increase of about 3 cm. Hmm..maybe those worm moves does help me grow longer…)
Weight: 6.2 kg (includes one nightful of pee…hee!)
Head: 40.5 cm (still average. Heyyy...why isn’t anyone watching documentaries?!)

Left Feels Right Too!

Now I no longer sleep on only my right side. I think I have better control over my neck muscles which enables me to swivel my neck to my left or right in my turtle back position.

I think I’m beginning to look more like a real life toy action figure now…swivelling left to right and then left again...hmmmm.....I may be ready to cross the street!! ;-p

Weight Deceiver

Like all good babies, I went for my regular monthly checkup with my doc over last weekend. The usual measurements were taken, and for those who are keeping track or have some fascination with numbers, here are my third moon growth updates:

Length: 61cm
Weight: 5.71kg
Head: 39cm

I was glad the doc said both my length and weight is normal and average. However, the size of me head seems to be averagely smaller relative to my growth in length and weight. Doc also added nothing to be worried about as it is still in normal range so no need for me to quickly immerse myself in Discovery Channels or apply for a library card in order to increase my brain size. :-p

Doc did give me some many-in-one vaccination jab (sigh…hello needles again) though…as well as some sweet-tasting vaccination liquid which was stuffed into my mouth. Gosh, is the world so full of baby viruses?!!

Whilst waiting for the bill, I decided to poop. Yup, another explosion alright. :-P Good thing they have a changing area in the clinic. After Mama cleaned me up, she decided to do a simple experiment by putting me on the weighing scale again. The reading: 5.56kg
That’s about 15g of marginal poop error. Hee!

Tip of the day, especially to all weight watchers: Go poop before weighing yourself – it does wonders! :-D

Nosey Stuffings

Have not been feeling too good for the past two days. Papa and Mama took me to see the doctor two nights ago because I started to make sounds they have not heard before. Boy, these stuffs that get stuck in my nose sure IS getting pretty nasty!

Good news is that doc says it looks quite minor and should clear up within next few days. He also gave some liquid stuff which is to be dropped into my nose whenever I feel uncomfortable ( which has proven to be an obstacle challenge for Papa and Mama so far…hee hee..) and some other liquid stuff for me to drink. Doesn’t taste as good as Mama’s goodness but it sure is pretty sweet! Hope it doesn’t raise my sugar level at my young age!

During my clinic weigh in, I clocked in at 5.46kg, about a week before I collect my third moon. I could have sworn it was 5.47kg before I sneezed. Hmmm.

If nosey stuffings is this bad, I shudder to think what turkey stuffings or Christmas stocking stuffings are like. :-D

Second Moon Growth Update

Mama took me to see the doc today. Yes, the needle trauma was still there, but I think I have become braver. No mean feat to collect two moons you know. Hmmmph.

Anyway, these are my physical updates for those who have been keeping track…

Weight: 5.2kg (I broke the 5K barrier…weee!)
Head: 38.5cm (brain is also growing…..wee!)
Height: 59.5cm (at least I measure longer than my head….hee!)

Good thing they don’t have anything that can measure my naughtiness….heh heh…:-p

One Month Milestone

Mama took me to see the PD yesterday to do a follow-up check on my jaundice and the first of many jabs to come since my birth.

Good old doc said my jaundice is subsiding already so there was nothing to worry about. Didn’t quite like my renewal of acquaintance with the needle but the doc said it was a necessary jab for all babies after the first month. Necessary jab? Yeah right. Good thing I didn’t see the doc at my first moon celebration. Grrr… ;-p

My statistics after about one month and a week to the good:

Length: 56 cm (hmmm…need to do more stretching then)
Head: 37.5 cm (oh no! only a 0.5cm expansion from my last check-up?!!)
Weight: 4.4 kg (alright! Getting rounder and rounder by the minute!)

Hair update: The hair on my back is starting to really drop off…hope this is not an early sign of balding!! Yelp..

Growth Progress

My diet thus far has been healthy Mama’s milk. And since my second week, my intake has been hovering around 3.5 ounces. Of course, if I cry a bit more, I will be promptly given another half ounce more. Cry a bite more again will get me another half ounce more. Ahhh…the wonders of being a baby. ;-D

Of course, I have to measure my cries too because if I cry too much, my parents will probably take me to the clinic liao.

A week plus after my birth, I have proudly crossed the 3.5kg mark in weight! And during my latest clinic visit, the scale displayed 3.9kg. Hope to catch up to role-model Papa real soon! Of course, my weight was taken with my diapers on so there could have been a possibility of measuring extra erm, liquids…. ;-p

My head was also measured and it is now at 37cm. That’s an increase of 4 cm of brain in 3 weeks! Yay! At this rate, I calculate that I would be able to challenge Papa in chess even before the year is over! ;-D
