F1 familiarities

I still have not been able to figure out what it is about F1 sports that fascinates me so much. Papa has been trying very hard to get me to sit through football matches with him but I seem to light up significantly everytime I see an F1 car speed around on the teevee.

People say we sometimes grow fond of something if we feel a certain feeling of familiarity towards it. Thinking along these lines, perhaps there exists some striking similarities between F1 and who I am today.

1. Just like those F1 motor cars, I also enjoy running at top speeds around and round and round the house sofa.

2. I would liken my diaper changing activities to that of the F1 races whenever the cars make a pit stop to change tyres.

3. Those podiums that the winners stand up to at the end of each race sure reminds me of the stairs I simply love to climb every day!

4. Just like in F1, accidents are bound to happen too like incidences where I could not brake in time and just bumped into tables, chairs, people, etc.

5. Very much like all those F1 drivers, I strangely find myself frequently surrounded by beautiful ladies too. My electrifying eye technique must be working. J

Racing Cars

Despite Papa’s best efforts in embedding football into my young mind, I find it strange that I still get to play with an assortment of toy cars. Ranging from colourful Ferraris to shiny Mini Coopers, there’s no denying these wheels do catch my eyes!

Hmmmm….makes me wonder if I’ll grow up to be more of a F1 kid rather than a football kid…

Clamber Climber

Anyone who thinks babies only get involved in light and softy sports, think again. Allow me to introduce some extreme sports I’m currently involved in. One of my favourites is staircase crawling. This activity easily becomes an extreme sport since I can’t really walk up the stairs yet.

It can get pretty strenuous after the fifth or sixth step, and the real challenge is with the curves as it goes into another direction. Just like carabineers and rope handlers, I’m glad that there will be adults following my every step whenever I attempt this sport. Of course most of the time they won’t even allow me to start it anyway. 

Now how am I gonna feature on ESPN with parental control like this? Sigh…

Top Corner

I seem to have this amazing ability to locate the top corner (or any corner for that matter actually) everytime I am placed on a mattress or inside the cot.

Maybe my motor skills and co-ordination isn’t too advanced to navigate where I want to go yet. However, I would like to believe that I am destined to be a top pro football player who can always find the top corner! Hee!

On the other hand, it also looks like me doing my best impression of a vacuum cleaner….yikes!

Football Foto Friday

Here’s proof that Papa is training me up from young to be the next football superstar…see determined and focussed I am in training...hee!

Commando Crawler

I can now crawl quite fast already, with a crawl-speed of about 10cm/s (without poop-assist, of course). This has prompted Papa and Mama to keep a close watch on me almost at all times! One blink of an eye, and I could have crawled from one end of the mattress to the other..hee!

I guess that’s where they came up with the term ‘Commando Crawl..’

Beijing Bounty

My other uncle (Mama’s younger brother) goes to China quite often. So it was no surprise one fine day when he dropped in after one of his trips with a Beijing Olympic soft toy for me!

Thanks Ku Deh Wee! Yay! Another item to fit into my mouth! Hee!

Starting Blocks

After my now-instinctive rollovers, I will set myself up in a position as if getting ready to sprint off the blocks for a sprint dash. Well, with my current speed of about 3cm/s, I don’t think I will be able to improve myself in time to be a contender for even the next Olympics. Still need to work on getting those extra centimeters off the starting blocks, I reckon. :-D

Watch out Uncle Bolt….I should be able to catch you soon enough!....:-D

More Football Fortunes for Papa!

Yay! I continue to bring football fortunes to Papa’s team this year. In this wonderful year where I was born, his teams have already brought home so many trophies and cups I couldn’t care less about.

So, here comes along the Olympics and his favourite Argentina team walked away with the Gold Medal, beating Nigeria 1-0. I heard that Messi was the star throughout the entire Olympics.

Wait-a-minute! Isn’t Messi the name of one of our dogs?!!!

Of Cups and Plates

As I mentioned in an earlier blog, I have noticed how adults behave so strange in placing so much emphasis in winning cups! I mean, if kitchen utensils are so important, shouldn’t there be a Kitchen Ministry in our Govt? Their may involve cooking up stuff, you know...well, at least they have cabinets...Hmmm.

Anyway, as I reflect on Papa’s Man U winning the Champion’s League Cup; and recently China lifting the Thomas (who’s he anyway?!) Cup, (and more recently) Spain winning the European Cup, it’s really clear cups are highly sought after in the adult world. I heard there’s even a Cup that belongs to the World, and is fought for every four years. Scary thoughts…

After all, a certain Roger Federer looked pretty sad when he was presented with only a plate at the recent Wimbledon. And teams will always try to avoid playing in plate championships…

Hmmm….a strange future filled with cups for me to look forward to. For now, I’ve only a miniscule foretaste through my regular hic-cups…

My First Shopping Day!!

Last Saturday, I had my first taste of this strange sport or sorts called “shopping”. Papa and Mama decided to get some groceries that evening and thought I was finally old enough to follow.

Papa was excited that he was finally going to be able to use the stroller which he bought months before I was born! So, he quickly brought it down and eagerly practiced opening and closing it. Believe me, it was a pretty scary sight.

Anyway, my traveling bag was quickly packed (Hmmm..Papa and Mama seems to be getting better at this packing thing) and before I knew it, we were off to Alamanda for my first ever shopping experience!

Before that evening, I never knew this shopping sport had such a fanatical following! There were people everywhere! Everywhere, I tell you! Didn’t feel quite comfortable at all that evening. At least I now know shopping and peace don’t go together.

And it was also really weird when I saw most shoppers pushing around those big steel strollers. I wouldn’t want to be strolling around and shopping in a cage!! Yup, I think I still prefer Papa’s stroller…the extra stroller padding sure makes it more comfy.

Sure felt like a rookie that day. L Hmmm…probably need some more time before I really get the hang of this sport.
