Riddle of the Day

Why do doctors wear surgical masks?

Answer: So that we would not know their true identities when they give us those painful jabs!

Ouch! Got another jab last weekend for that newma-whatever. Hope that’s the end of it. Really hate those needles.

Anyway, also managed to get a quick update on my growth progress, as of 28 Oct 09:

Height: 86 cm, Weight: 12.5kg,

Teeth: 16 ( I think…not really good with numbers yet..)

Of Stickers and Sprays

Papa and Mama knows how much I dislike those flying needles so they are trying out several defense mechanisms against these pesky little things.

One item that they tried was a cute little round sticker that had some smell that would apparently fend off those flying needles. This was also quite simple to use as it would be placed on me when I’m sleeping. And since I sleep on my front, it would be safe from my curious hands too as the sticker is usually stuck on my back or bum. Sure hope the smell works and not become a homing target for those needles!

The other method is a type of natural spray of sorts which has a liquid that is more fragrant than the sticker. Since it is not supposed to be harmful, this spray is applied on my clothes, cot, mattress, etc. Problem of it being so fragrant is that although it deters the needles from coming close, I’m not sure if it attracts anything else or not….

Big Bites

I have just discovered another BIG difference between Sitiawan and KL – in the form of some nasty BIG marks from those flying needles.

These KL cousins sure have bigger appetites. No fair! I’m so small I only carry that much blood and they want mine too. *sniff sniff*

Weight Deceiver

Like all good babies, I went for my regular monthly checkup with my doc over last weekend. The usual measurements were taken, and for those who are keeping track or have some fascination with numbers, here are my third moon growth updates:

Length: 61cm
Weight: 5.71kg
Head: 39cm

I was glad the doc said both my length and weight is normal and average. However, the size of me head seems to be averagely smaller relative to my growth in length and weight. Doc also added nothing to be worried about as it is still in normal range so no need for me to quickly immerse myself in Discovery Channels or apply for a library card in order to increase my brain size. :-p

Doc did give me some many-in-one vaccination jab (sigh…hello needles again) though…as well as some sweet-tasting vaccination liquid which was stuffed into my mouth. Gosh, is the world so full of baby viruses?!!

Whilst waiting for the bill, I decided to poop. Yup, another explosion alright. :-P Good thing they have a changing area in the clinic. After Mama cleaned me up, she decided to do a simple experiment by putting me on the weighing scale again. The reading: 5.56kg
That’s about 15g of marginal poop error. Hee!

Tip of the day, especially to all weight watchers: Go poop before weighing yourself – it does wonders! :-D

Blood and Needles (BAN)

After numerous trips to hospitals and clinics, I have decided that two things that I don’t really like when I’m there would be blood and needles. It should be BANned.

I have faced them too many times that I cared to even remember. Since Day 1 when they poked my heel to do some baby test…and then a few days later I was poked again for the jaundice test…and then again for another jaundice test. I think I now understand why even adults don’t like needles…

However, my worst BAN experience was the night when I reached Sitiawan. It was getting pretty late when Papa and Mama decided to take me to see the doctor to check on my jaundice. Since it was going to be a simple blood test, they took me to a Government hospital in Manjung. O what a nightmare it turned out to be.

Papa and Mama were asked to leave the lab where they would do the blood test. If you thought getting poked in the heel was bad enough, the staff nurses at this hospital made things worse. They actually took blood from the veins on my hand! And that’s not the last of it. I think they took enough blood to run experiments for days! I’m sure I didn’t sign up to donate blood that night. My bloodied mittens left Papa and Mama speechless and I don’t think they will bring me back there again. ;-D
