Riddle of the Day

Why do doctors wear surgical masks?

Answer: So that we would not know their true identities when they give us those painful jabs!

Ouch! Got another jab last weekend for that newma-whatever. Hope that’s the end of it. Really hate those needles.

Anyway, also managed to get a quick update on my growth progress, as of 28 Oct 09:

Height: 86 cm, Weight: 12.5kg,

Teeth: 16 ( I think…not really good with numbers yet..)

18.5 Moon Checkpoint

Went to see my doc last weekend to get another jab for another strange virus I cannot even pronounce. Anyway, I think I heard it was some sort of a booster jab. Doc was really pro in this as he played some jingle as he was preparing the needle. As I was getting distractedly engrossed with the music, the needle went in and out just as the music stopped and I didn't even feel a thing. Now if only those mozzies can learn a thing or two here. Hmmmph.

Also took the opportunity to check on my progress and here it is:

Height: 84 cm (chart shows I'm above average here. All those jumping exercises seem to work!)
Weight: 11kg (chart shows slightly below average. Should pick up once I get my hands on steak!)
Head: 46cm (need to continue to read to build those brain muscles! Hee!)

I've also discovered a weighing scale at home so I should be able to chart my progress on a more regular basis now. ;-)

Vocab Update

Never thought verbal skills would be a challenge. Anyway, these are some of the words that have been coming out of my mouth lately:

Pro: Papa, Mama, Ah Ma, Ah Kung, Che-che, Car, Bus, Nen-nen (aka milk), Dog, Light, Dark dark (when the lights go out), Pom pom (bath time!), Bubble, Owl (violent cartoon on teevee), Come, Go, Star, Book, Woof

Almost There: Ah Por, Truck, Moon, Upstairs, Work, School, Lai (come), Kia (walk), Arrow, Toys

Struggling: Shoes, Auntie, House, Clothes, Outside, Messy, Thank You

Wish-List: I want my Jacuzzi!, Give me the remote!, Let me drive! Go Man U! (Papa’s wish)

I Have Overcome!

After weeks of having this personal battle, I have finally prevailed.

Yup, where once was fear, now only confidence stands.
Where once was trembling, now firmness remain.
Where once was grass, now there’s Collin!

No more fear of grass for me! Yay!
Now, I just have to watch out for those doggie poops. ;-p

Mama Mia! It’s Macaroni!

Mama made me a special dish the other day. It was also my first complete Italian meal – a full bowl of macaroni!! Never thought I could enjoy noodle-like stuff in delicious soup all by myself! Mmmmmm……thanks Mama!

I think I’m all ready for more Italian goodness now, like erm, pizza? No?

Loose Screw

Not sure if I have recently discovered a new talent of furiously shaking my head non-stop from left to right, or there’s a loose screw in my neck somewhere…

This dizzying motion simply makes the adults go nuts! Actually, come to think of it, it kinda makes me go dizzy too. Go ahead, try it today!

Those Cheeky Eyes

Watch out world! I have recently added another bit of weaponry to my arsenal of cuteness…

As if naturally, I can blink both my eyes simultaneously at my unsuspecting targets, rendering them helpless and submissive to my cuteness. Not sure how it was developed though, but I may it highly effective when I do it right after I’ve done something wrong, or when I feel compelled to be disobedient.

I also believe it is an early stage of baby flirting or some have even called it ‘main mata’. Now, I just have to learn not to overuse it. :-P

Evolution of Poop

Just as I am constantly growing up from a little baby to a bigger baby and eventually a little toddler and so on, I noticed almost everything else within me develops and evolves as well.

One noticeable area of this constant evolution is my poop. Sad to say, my Poopinator alter-ego may need a revision in name pretty soon.

Gone were the days where my poop made erm, grand appearances, often complemented with its ever unmistakable sound effects. The post-explosion debris of smell would be immediately picked up by any active adult nose within a 15 metre radius.

Not any more. These days, I would say my poop has matured into the silent type. It comes and goes almost in a flashlight speed, with hardly any sound of warning. Because it is now more in a solid state, the smell factor is not so easily picked up.

I’m just curious to find out what the next level of poop will be like. :-D

Laser Pointer

I’m rather proud to have developed a very good ‘first-finger pointing gesture’ down pat. So now, everything I see will be sort of ‘tagged’ by my finger. The trigger is so fast I just seem to enjoy pointing at everything and everyone!

Some may see it as rude.
Some may think it looks silly.
Some may be amused by it.
Some may seem compelled to follow suit and connect their finger with mine..

Me? I think it’s a sign of a mastering the art of work delegation in the future. Hehe. :-p

Commanded Commando

I’d like to think I would turn out to be a mighty fine soldier. Like all good soldiers, they are obedient to instructions and faithfully carry out orders without questioning much.

Although quite limited, I would be obediently able to correctly point to objects that I knows when commanded phrases like “Where is the light?”, “Where is the fan?”

Of course, if I don’t see any light or fan nearby, I will just let my fingers go loose and ‘it’ will start pointing everywhere. Hee! I can’t control my fingers sometimes, honest!

Clamber Climber

Anyone who thinks babies only get involved in light and softy sports, think again. Allow me to introduce some extreme sports I’m currently involved in. One of my favourites is staircase crawling. This activity easily becomes an extreme sport since I can’t really walk up the stairs yet.

It can get pretty strenuous after the fifth or sixth step, and the real challenge is with the curves as it goes into another direction. Just like carabineers and rope handlers, I’m glad that there will be adults following my every step whenever I attempt this sport. Of course most of the time they won’t even allow me to start it anyway. 

Now how am I gonna feature on ESPN with parental control like this? Sigh…

O How the Teeth Grindeth….

Armed with 7-8 teeth, I discovered that it is not that difficult to make grinding sounds if I regularly brush the upper teeth and the lower teeth together.

Now if only someone could teaching me on music already so that I can start to make some music with my teeth!! Sigh…

Rat-in-Action: The Sequel

Follow-up video to my earlier effort of my rat-like habit...

My Year One Report Card

As of four days before 19 Feb 2009:

Height - 74cm
Weight - 8.92kg (doc says i'm still slightly underweight...hmmmph....how can I gain weight with only porridge...? sighhh...)
Head - 44.5cm (the brain is growing! growing!)

Teeth - 7 (still growing in weird odd numbers..hmmm)

Weapons: Saliva machine gun; occasional explosive poop when necessary, high decibel screams

Movement: I can walk about unassisted already...think it was the night before my first birthday; I also like to go round and round the living room sofa. hee!

Gestures: I have a trigger happy finder that points at almost everything! Also can point my small finger, pointy finger and thumb....some people say it looks like surfer's sign. Me? Internet surfer, maybe...hee!

Motors: I now feed myself with the feeding bottle. Can be quite tiring at times but I like the feeds before I sleep as I wil be gladly 'assisted'...hee.hee...Grip is also pretty strong now, especially when I hold my favourite things like the remote control, electrical wires, phone chargers, story books, etc.

Feeds: Mama's goodness, cereal, porridge, fruits; some splatter of rice, bread and otehr odd stuff the adults eat once a while.

Mr Conductor

Another career for me to consider in my later stage of life – a music conductor! Yes, with BOTH of my fearless flapping forearm in full-action, I do look graceful in a music-conductor kind of manner.

Now if they’d only give me an orchestra to play with. Hmmmmm.

To boldly go….

I have already started to venture into territories I have not explored before. Lately my crawls have taken me from the typical tiles of the living area, where the teevee is, to a different set of tiles, which seemed more rough and smaller in size.

After a few rounds of exploration, I have deduced I have discovered the kitchen! Notable giveaway clues include the huge ice box which stores the treasure of Mama’s goodness, place for washing and sterilization of my feeding bottles, location of forks, spoons and knives.

Ahhh….now can’t wait to see where those steps going up near the kitchen border leads to.

The Transporter

If all else fails, I think I can also develop a career in furniture moving. No kidding. I have started my infancy training in moving stools and chairs around the house already.

I know it may look like something silly but to the unknown eye, I’m actually slowly but surely building muscles….hee!

Sofa So Good

Another milestone achieved just before Christmas of 2008 was a newly discovered ability to climb up my house sofa! I had been stuck for months at just gliding and cruising along that sofa; and Papa and Mama would conveniently place me desirable objects like the remote controls on the sofa, knowing well it was beyond me reach... well, not any more!

Using my ever growing leg and arm muscles, I am able to push myself up onto the sofa already! Wee! Hmmm...now that I have that sofa conquered, I think I can target those steps which lead upstairs already....:-P

Rat-in-Action

I am my biggest fan!

A new growth progress! I am now able to twirl my right hand wrist round and round! So, if I am to remove the baby carrier padding and twirl my right hand via my newfound talent, it will look as if I am fanning myself! Now, THAT’s cool!

Wonder if I can apply this talent to turn up the volume of radio knobs or open any doors or not. Hee!
