Collin's Dictionary: Phototherapy

“Phototherapy” – A unique form of medical treatment where the infected adult is prescribed prolonged permission and access to snap excessive photos of babies. Higher intensity is usually required whenever a newborn baby arrives.

Papa’s phototherapy treatment had already begun when I first opened my eyes into the world about 22 moons ago. I still remember him snapping and flashing away at my every pose, yawn, smile, breath… yup, it’s almost like having a blinking flashlight permanently docked on your eyes!

And with the recent birth of my baby sister Caitlynn, I noticed Papa’s camera required re-charging on a more frequent basis. Definitely an increase in his phototherapy treatment levels!

Anyway, Papa tells me he likes to keep the camera handy and ready to use at anytime because we never know when the next outrageous pose of cuteness will appear. He also shared with me how he wishes the next technology breakthrough would be “camera eyes” that would allow photos to be taken as and when our eyes see them!

Ahhh…perhaps that’s why natural photos always look much better compared to conventional studio shots. I’d cringe everytime I see Animal Planet-obsessed parents forcing animal costumes into their babies for such shots. And the amount of artificial spotlight lighting flooded on the poor child…*shakes head* Don’t we get enough free radioactive exposure from TV at home already?! Sigh.

So I was quite excited when I came across this interesting website with a cute name, TwoPixels Photography, who specializes in professional phototherapy in taking portraitures of newborns, pregnant mothers, children and family. Portraiture sure is a funny word. Perhaps it is derived from the words portrait and literature, which would mean ‘images that reads itself like a story?’ Hmmm….

Anyway, after browsing through some of their work, I must say I was really impressed with their fresh ideas of capturing life in motion and imaginative baby postures. Personally, I liked their contemporary use of furniture, books, trees, people and other nearby objects to complement the baby. The end result are beautiful and simple yet amazing photos that are easy on the eyes and tugs at our heartstrings – each with a delightful story to tell! Ahhh...I guess that's where the word portraiture comes in...hee!

However, the best part of it all is their ridiculously affordable prices! Basically, the price for each photo session starts from RM 400, where you will receive 15 – 20 images that will be shown in your personal gallery, and also the complete gallery of about 100 shots on CD. My math may not be that good yet but I think it roughly works out to only about RM 4 per shot! The complete price list of their photo session packages can be viewed HERE.

Congrats to TwoPixels Photography who recently celebrated their 1st year anniversary on 27 Nov 2009. I was really excited that they are celebrating it by offering giveaway photo sessions to at least three bloggers to review and write about them. Coincidentally, Caitlynn was born just a day before their anniversary date so that gives me more reason to hope we can get a free phototherapy session with TwoPixels Photography through this blog review of their site! Hee!

Meanwhile, I guess we shall have to be contented and patient with Papa’s regular phototherapy treatment…Sigh.

Satay Satisfaction

I have come to a conclusion that good stuff always comes at the end of a stick. Let's see, there was..

... the cool lantern that I enjoyed playing with that came at the end of a stick
... my ever favourite drumstick that produces noises at the end of drums
... the strings that came with the stick that was joint to the kite!
... the stick in Papa's car that helps take us go places!
... the broom, with brushes at the end of the stick that makes sweeping fun!
... the net at the end of the badminton stick sure makes beating really fun too!

...and of course last weekend, when Ah Kong and Ah Ma came down to visit last weekend, it was somehow decided that we were going for Satay Kajang - so I was introduced to this local dish, which had a whole chunk of meat at the end of the stick! Cool! Only disappointment was that I was still deemed to young (probably it's the teeth) to eat it, so I could only watch the adults enjoy themselves...sigh.

Looking forward to the next time when I would hopefully have strong enough teeth to sink into some Satay!

A Date with the Moon

Last weekend, I went dating...with the moon! Our church small group gathered at Uncle Gary's house before going around with our real fire-lighted up lanterns! Finally get to play with fire! Hee!

I also brought along a safe one (operated by battery with flashing LWD lights) that was given by Kim Nin when I was back in Sitiawan earlier. Apparently this is part of the chinese culture mid-autumn festival where people play with lanterns and stuff themselves with mooncakes. I would think it's also a wonderful time to celebrate moon-collecting business. I am at 19.5 at present. Anyway...

Here are some pics of my first lantern walkabout. Sure was fun!!

At the park with Jiejies Nicole and Caryn...the exercise bench must be more interesting. Hmmm

A real swinging time out together!

I see the light!!

Arrgh!! The lantern is bigger than my head!!

Can't I just roll this lantern ball on the grass?
Going home...

Eh...wait for me!!!

Raya Getaway

Had a great Raya holiday getaway with Papa and Mama two weekends back. It was a long break so we took the chance to bring back lots of little sister (to be)'s cargo back to Sitiawan. I wonder if this was a similar exercise before I came out last time. Hmmm.

Anyway, these are some pics of my Raya getaway!

Marche Madness

Last weekend, Papa and Mama made an appointment to meet up with Kor-kor Joyce, whose family made a trip down to KL. I was pretty excited, not only getting the chance to meet up with my cousins Ethan and Hannah again, but because the venue chosen was Marche at the Curve.

Almost a year ago, Papa and Mama also brought me to this place during this fasting month where they have this special Ramadhan buffet. I only remember Papa and Mama stuffing themselves with loads of glorious food and I only got to take a photo with a cow statue in front.

Anyways, I knew things would be different now. Armed with the knowledge that the dinner would start at 6.00pm, we arrived earlier to do some shopping, and then made our way toMarche by 5.40pm. Surprisingly, we were the first to queue up at their front door and I think I got a nice big red balloon for our efforts. ;-D The crowd started to build behind us moments later and it wasn’t long before the train-like line reached around 30.

It was a real mad rush when we were let in. I now understand what the many cow statues signify… Papa mentioned that it would be good for us to eat earlier to avoid the jam when the people who were fasting would eat later. I also found the children’s playroom where they had two slides. Really had fun there. If the adults enjoyed their buffet eating, this sure was the children’s buffet as I had endless rounds of climbing up the steps and sliding now. So did Ethan Koko!

Overall, I had a great evening catching up with cousins Ethan and Hannah. As usual, I didn’t get to enjoy the food like Papa and Mama did, but from their expressions, I think it was really good. I only had the chance to try their mushroom soup, broccoli soup, yoghurt and ice-cream.

I’m beginning to wonder if this visit to Marche is going to become something like an annual affair? If it is, I certainly can’t wait till I’m old enough to sink my teeth into some grill!

Fountain Featured Feed

One of my most memorable dinner feeds was the one in this Alamanda shopping mall where they had this fountain feature in a park outside. Papa and Mama pushed me in the stroller to the edge of the fountain pool where I had my feed there.

Ahh….food plus a view to kill for. :-D

Catching Up With Ethan Koko! (or was it the other way round)

More photos from Penang!! Wee!

Met up with Ethan Koko in this nice restaurant called Nonya Breeze. I vaguely remember coming here before but I still cannot enjoy all the lovely food on display. Sigh. At least this time, Mama allowed me to sample some of the dishes. Maybe I need more teeth to grow before I'm allowed full access. :-P

Nice colourful menu full of pictures...hee!

Holidaying in Penang!

I went travelling again to Penang two weekends ago! Papa had some business to attend to and since it was rather last minute, he decided to drive us all up there for the weekend. Yay me!

It was also rather timely as Ethan Koko had just touched down from USA a week earlier. This would mean that I would be able to meet up with him as well as baby Hannah! Wee! I will post photos on that in another blog as I already have quite a number of photos here.

As usual, my travel blog in pictures below:

Back to the beach with Mama! Am much braver now!

Me and Mama Friday!

Big Brother Me To Be!

Oh boy! This is such exciting news to share! Apparently some doctors have this ultra cool camera that can take pictures inside people’s tummies.
So anyway, I managed to get hold of this exclusive photo inside Mama’s tummy…and I see another baby is growing inside! Looks like I’m gonna be a big brother soon! Not sure when that will be but the photograph is dated around 20 weeks so I’m sure you adults would be able to do the math. Cause I can’t. :-(
"looks like another smiley baby too! :-D"

What the math will not be able to tell you is whether I’m going to be a big brother to a baby girl or boy. Hee! Papa and Mama have already told me this but I think I shall keep it a secret for now. Shhhhh.:-D

Cool Dip in the Pool

I had a really fun time in Kampar in late May when I followed Papa and Mama to our church family camp. We stayed at this Grand Kampar Hotel which came complete with a bathtub in the room and also a bigger open-air bathtub on the hotel roof level.

Most people call this the swimming pool. It was my first ever contact with this cool feature. Who would ever thought that tonnes of water contained within a dug up hole surrounded by walls could provide so much fun must be a genius!

Papa and Mama took out my cool float and arm floats and so off I went for a cool dip in the pool! Best bath-like simulation I ever had! And no soap too! Hee!

The Ground Where I Play

In my neighbourhood, there is a small little playground that is cramped with various huge toy-equipment thingys for kids to play with. I can run quite freely here too since the ground is padded with some rubber like material for safety.

Here are some photos of my fun times here.

Giddy-up!

ahh....big big toys!!

swinging times!

World of Balloons!

Papa and Mama took me out to Putrajaya last Saturday morning to see big big balloons in the sky! Wee! I'd always thought balloons were for little kids and babies like myself, but the adults crowded the park like they had never seen balloons before!

Unfortunately all tickets to go up in one of those big hot air balloons were sold out already so we just went around taking pictures and admiring these ballons in the sky!

My very own Mickey Mouse balloon! Wee!

Showing Papa a balloon in the sky! :-)

Hello Hannah!

Was extremely excited when I heard KorKor Joyce had just given birth to little Hannah about a week ago on 2 March 2009. She weighed in at 3.04kg and the head was full of hair!

However, i managed to only post this up today because the photos probably got delayed amidst the joy and busy-ness there. Ahhh...Koko Ethan must be so happy he's got a sister to play with now. Hee!

Awww...doesn't baby Hannah look so happy in this picture with her parents.. :-)

12 Moons = 1 Yeah!

TODAY, I have finally reached the milestone of collecting 12 moons, which is equivalent to one year! Wee!

Although I achieved this historic moment on 19 Feb 2009, Papa and Mama organised a simple celebration with my Ah Kong, Ah Ma, Ah Kung, Ah Por and other close relatives in Sitiawan on 28 Jan, when everyone was around during CNY.

Here is my birthday blog with some images to tell the story...

My birthday cake. The wordings tell me that Papa and Mama do have a sense of humor. But I ain't lauhging. Hmmmmph.

The bulk of food that the ADULTS will enjoy at the expense of MY birthday. Sighhhh...

The lovely clown-faced jelly that my dear Ah Mai (Mama's younger sister) made for me. Love it!

It was at this celebration that the adults made me play a silly game to determine what kind of person I would be or to see my priorities in the future. Like a lab rat, I was 'released' a few meters from a long table stocked with stuff like a money note, mobile phone, chicken drumstick, red eggs, pen, remote control, magazine, etc.

There were euphoric cries of joy (presumably) as I went straight and picked up the PEN first, indicating I would be quite scholarly when I grow up. Dunno how they came up with that conclusion. Did any of them wonder how easy it was for me to grip the pen compared to the rest of the items? Hmmm.

Striking a pose with my beloved grandmas!
