Footballing Frenzy

Papa must be really proud of me now that I have finally started to kick the toy football be bought me many many moons ago. Still don’t quite get the concepts yet, so most of the time when the kicking frustrates me, I would prefer to just pick it up with my hands, throw it and run around.

A future goalie, perhaps? Hee!

Human Rock Climber

Just added this addictive activity into my extreme sport hobby portfolio. In adult terms, it is called rock climbing, but since I’m obviously too small to be doing actual rock climbing, I compensate by climbing all over human rocks, namely Mama and Papa.

Hey, I need to get the hang of it early on, OK?

Thief on Trial

The other weekend at the mall, I had my first real drama. Papa followed me into this shop that sells so many videos and CDs. I was really fascinated with all those Korean, Japanese or Chinese (they all look the same to me!) box sets that were displayed but Papa kept putting back all the items I had taken off the rack.

As we moved on other sections, one particular box set caught my eye. I grabbed it from the shelf and held it in my hand for a while. From the corner of my eye, I noticed Papa was looking elsewhere at that moment. With a glee, I sprinted away with the box set. As I reached the exit, alarm sirens sounded and everyone in the shop and surrounding areas trained their eyes on me. I was stunned for a second as Papa caught up with me immediately and hurried me back to return the box set.

As we were leaving the shop, I noticed the girl behind the counter looking at me in a funny way so I thought I would bail myself out by electrocuting her with my cheeky eyes. Obviously she fell for it as she then offered a smile in return as well as a Ben10 tissue pack. Hee!

Whew. It sure pays to have cuteness on your side whilst conducting these thieving stunts!

Papa and me....synchronised dreaming...

Saliva Bomber

When Papa carries me in a flying position, sometimes I like to imagine myself as a bomber plane. As I enjoy myself in flying mode, my bombing mode also takes over without my control.

Before I know it, my flight path would be littered with saliva… hee!

One Eyed Jack

Had a pretty bad insect bite above my left eye last week which resulted in some pretty awful looking swelling and itchiness. It all happened so very quickly during my sleeptime at night that till now I still don’t know what actually bit me.

Anyway, it left me a droopy one eyed look for a day. Papa and Mama also took me to see the doc just to be sure it wasn’t anything more serious than an insect bite. Papa mentioned he was quite relieved that the Insecticons weren’t responsible for it.
I also think the flesh above my eyes must be pretty sweet because just a few days ago, my right eye was stung by another unidentified insect, almost right after my left eye had healed completely. Sigh...

Transformable Toys

I was gleefully delighted when Papa presented me with some exclusive toys that he had purchased from this place called ebay. They were a pair of robot-like soft toys with strange names such as Softimus Prime and Slumblebee. Apparently, they were created after popular characters from the Transformers series that Papa speaks so highly of.

Anyway, the cool thing about these toys is that they can be reversed inside out to become a truck and a car! And they are made of soft materials so there should be no way I could hurt myself playing with them.

Strange thing is Papa seems more excited about them than me. Hmmmm.

Stunt Driver

I am quite sure I have grown longer and longer. Since I have not been given any ruler-like stuff to confirm this, I have been using other unorthodox methods. These include ability to reach for more stuff placed on the dining table, how high my chin is from the cot railing, my eye level from Papa’s knees, etc.

Another method which I would like to highlight today is the length of my leg to that gear stick that separates me from Papa in the car. The other day I realized my right feet was long enough to actually ‘rest’ on this stick! Isn’t that cool? I could finally assist Papa in his driving!

So a few days later, we were driving home at night when I realized the gear stick was incorrectly still engaged in Day. Papa didn’t seem to realize this so I thought I’d be a good son and help him. So, I gave one good kick and shifted the gear stick back to Night. Thought Papa would be happy but he instead he shifted the stick back to Day and drove on.

I guessed I must have done something wrong because from the next day onwards, my car seat has been permanently shifted to the back again…sigh.

"look Papa...no hands!!"

(S)Car(e) Wash

Had a fright of my life the other day when Papa strapped me into the front seat and drove me out to a car wash centre that was unique in the sense that it was virtually half manual, with adults soaping and wiping the car, and this would be followed by a machine wash which would spray water and scrub everything else

For those of you who have not gone through the machine cycle, it is one scary ride! Imagine foam splashing on every side of the windows and cars, rotating brushes scrubbing every inch of the car, going through a dark, confined space with nowhere else to go…it was quite traumatic for me.

Think I need to grow more courage before I agree to let Papa take me through this ‘joy’ ride again.

Front Row with Bon Jovi!

Papa’s favourite rock band Bon Jovi was performing inside the teevee the other day and I got to get front row seats! Hee!

I think I see Mama shaking her head though..:-p

Happy Birthday Papa!!

I know that you would want this for your birthday this year...

...but since I'm just a baby, I will instead give you one of my irresistible smiles....

Thanks for everything, Papa! I love you!! :-D

Parenting Tip: Old Macdonald – Papa’s Extended Version

Of all the nursery rhymes that have been sung to me, one of my favourites is Old Macdonald – one of the few songs which never fails to calm me down when I’m crying or demanding for attention.

However, since the song isn’t very long by nature, Papa has thrown in a few more animals into the song so that it becomes an extended version that can last for up to about 20 minutes of playtime! I kid you not! Hee!

I would like to share this extended version with everyone today, thinking it may be a helpful song for other parents who may need to sing the song longer than it usual length.

Old Macdonald had a farm

E-I-E-I-O

And on his farm he had some dogs

E-I-E-I-O

And a here, and a there

Here there , everywhere

Old Macdonald had a farm

E-I-E-I-O

Repeat, replacing animal sounds in <…..> appropriately:

Cats – Meow

Cows – Moo

Ducks – Quack

Geese – Cackle

Hens – Cluck

Worms – Squirm

Pigs – Oink

Birds – Chirp

Bees – Buzz

Frogs – Ribid

Flies – Zzzz

Horse – Neigh

Sheep – Baa

Goat – Mek

Snakes – Sssss

Monkeys – Hoo

Donkeys – Heehaw

Rabbits – Hop

Roosters – Cockcrow

Gophers – Dig

Rats – Squeak

Lions – Roar

Rhinos – Gore

More Dogs – Woof, woof woof…

More Cats – Meow, meow meow…

Etc.

End:

Old Macdonald had a farm

E-I-E-I-O

And on his farm he had Collin

E-I-E-I-O

And a poop poop here, and a poop poop there

Here poop there poop, everywhere poop poop

Old Macdonald had a farm

And it’s a smelly farm…

Come to think of it, considering the number of animals in the song, we could also replace farm with zoo! Hee!

Sofa So Good

Another milestone achieved just before Christmas of 2008 was a newly discovered ability to climb up my house sofa! I had been stuck for months at just gliding and cruising along that sofa; and Papa and Mama would conveniently place me desirable objects like the remote controls on the sofa, knowing well it was beyond me reach... well, not any more!

Using my ever growing leg and arm muscles, I am able to push myself up onto the sofa already! Wee! Hmmm...now that I have that sofa conquered, I think I can target those steps which lead upstairs already....:-P

Christmas Decor Memories

Think I'll sign off the year with some pics of Christmas decor at my church. Everything was just so lovely - the lights, the trees, the bells...ahhhh....

Bye-bye 2008...what a great year it was. :-)

Gimme Cartoons!

Finally Papa has called Astro to include the cartoon package into our subscription! Wee! Not sure if they were pressure to do so knowing how I spend my afternoons in Mrs D’s house watching these channels. Hee!

I’ll fill in details on my favourite shows later….erm, maybe after I manage to get Papa to switch from the his Teen Titans and Fantastic Four! Hmmmph!!!...

Spectacles Spectacle

Nothing escapes my gangster grip!

Papa’s eye glasses found out the hard way when I managed to grab hold of it one day. Managed to pull it away to have a closer look. And had a taste of it - not very nice; and almost broke it in two also if not for my under-developed super strength.

These days, Papa seems more wary of the whereabouts of my arms whenever he carries me. J

Me and Papa, the Man United fanatic..hee!

More Football Fortunes for Papa!

Yay! I continue to bring football fortunes to Papa’s team this year. In this wonderful year where I was born, his teams have already brought home so many trophies and cups I couldn’t care less about.

So, here comes along the Olympics and his favourite Argentina team walked away with the Gold Medal, beating Nigeria 1-0. I heard that Messi was the star throughout the entire Olympics.

Wait-a-minute! Isn’t Messi the name of one of our dogs?!!!

Happy Papa Day! (15 June 08)

Dearest Papa,

I found out that today is a day that is dedicated to all Papas of the world, so I would like to say in my simple love note here “Happy Papa Day!! I love you!!”

Thank you for showing me so much love, patience, care, joy, and humour of course, since the day I was born. Thank you also for your support and encouragement to Mama too. I am truly thankful for a Papa like you.

So, for today…I promise to try to be at me most bestest and obedienest behaviour so that you can be proud of me!

Your #1 Fan and Son,
Collin

Papa’s Second Baby

I knew it would arrive one day but I didn’t expect it to be so soon! But it did. Last Friday evening, my ‘competition’ arrived into Papa’s arms, all shiny and squeaky clean. I remember I was definitely on the other end of the cleanliness spectrum when I arrived.

Anyway, many may not know this but there was an unwritten race as to which baby would be the first to be delivered – what more with the both of us due in March of this year. So I am of course, proud to mention I won that race rather handsomely (ahem).

So after a delay of close to five months, Papa’s second baby and my competitor, has arrived. My initial assessment of the competition looks bad. Heck, even his ID (Allan’s Grand Livina) has Papa’s name on it! What a sneaky fella.

- He poops too! But whenever a poop occurs, it enables him to move distances. In comparison, whenever I poop, everyone nearby travels distances..
- He doesn’t feed much but when he does, it is by the LITRES!! Thank God I don’t have to share Mama’s goodness with this fella.
- Doesn’t look like he needs as much attention as I do, but I have a feeling when he does, it’s gonna be pretty costly.

Anyway, I hope to be able to co-exist together with this other baby. Besides, I’m sure we can go places together. ;-D
