Satay Satisfaction

I have come to a conclusion that good stuff always comes at the end of a stick. Let's see, there was..

... the cool lantern that I enjoyed playing with that came at the end of a stick
... my ever favourite drumstick that produces noises at the end of drums
... the strings that came with the stick that was joint to the kite!
... the stick in Papa's car that helps take us go places!
... the broom, with brushes at the end of the stick that makes sweeping fun!
... the net at the end of the badminton stick sure makes beating really fun too!

...and of course last weekend, when Ah Kong and Ah Ma came down to visit last weekend, it was somehow decided that we were going for Satay Kajang - so I was introduced to this local dish, which had a whole chunk of meat at the end of the stick! Cool! Only disappointment was that I was still deemed to young (probably it's the teeth) to eat it, so I could only watch the adults enjoy themselves...sigh.

Looking forward to the next time when I would hopefully have strong enough teeth to sink into some Satay!

Vege View Up Close

I have a feeling mama is trying to start me from young to like vegetables. Sometimes before she cooks, she will introduce me to some vegetable in raw form. These plants sure are funny because they do look big before they are cooked, and become so much smaller after that.

I guess when I’m really hungry, I shouldn’t be cooking them, eh?

Fearful Feeder

Being somewhat rebellious by nature, I can be quite difficult to handle sometimes…okok, most of the times!

But more so when I am being fed something new. Like Mama said – the first bite is always the toughest. I will put on my best drama possible after that first bite is put, or rather forced into my mouth. After some dramatic expression and faked tears, I will run away and continue like nothing happened. If the food is good, I will come back for seconds.

Now, that’s what I would call the theatrics of feeding. Hehe.

Marche Madness

Last weekend, Papa and Mama made an appointment to meet up with Kor-kor Joyce, whose family made a trip down to KL. I was pretty excited, not only getting the chance to meet up with my cousins Ethan and Hannah again, but because the venue chosen was Marche at the Curve.

Almost a year ago, Papa and Mama also brought me to this place during this fasting month where they have this special Ramadhan buffet. I only remember Papa and Mama stuffing themselves with loads of glorious food and I only got to take a photo with a cow statue in front.

Anyways, I knew things would be different now. Armed with the knowledge that the dinner would start at 6.00pm, we arrived earlier to do some shopping, and then made our way toMarche by 5.40pm. Surprisingly, we were the first to queue up at their front door and I think I got a nice big red balloon for our efforts. ;-D The crowd started to build behind us moments later and it wasn’t long before the train-like line reached around 30.

It was a real mad rush when we were let in. I now understand what the many cow statues signify… Papa mentioned that it would be good for us to eat earlier to avoid the jam when the people who were fasting would eat later. I also found the children’s playroom where they had two slides. Really had fun there. If the adults enjoyed their buffet eating, this sure was the children’s buffet as I had endless rounds of climbing up the steps and sliding now. So did Ethan Koko!

Overall, I had a great evening catching up with cousins Ethan and Hannah. As usual, I didn’t get to enjoy the food like Papa and Mama did, but from their expressions, I think it was really good. I only had the chance to try their mushroom soup, broccoli soup, yoghurt and ice-cream.

I’m beginning to wonder if this visit to Marche is going to become something like an annual affair? If it is, I certainly can’t wait till I’m old enough to sink my teeth into some grill!

Fountain Featured Feed

One of my most memorable dinner feeds was the one in this Alamanda shopping mall where they had this fountain feature in a park outside. Papa and Mama pushed me in the stroller to the edge of the fountain pool where I had my feed there.

Ahh….food plus a view to kill for. :-D

My Favourite Foods

I'm not sure how taste is developed, but this is an entry to record what food I like to eat at this stage of my life...

...and the top 5 picks are:

5. Pasta - they come in all shapes and sizes!!
4. Noodles - lorve that slurpy feeling when I suck it in to chew. The dark-coloured ones are tasty too!
3. Cornflakes - crunchy and excellent snack!
2. Yoghurt - Soft, creamy and tasty too, especially those fruity flavoured ones.
1. Medicine - you should see how psycho I become when I am offered those sweet strawberry-like fluids. Mmmmmmm. :-D

Durian Daze

I had my first encounter with a very strange fruit recently. It’s skin was covered in thorns and the handle was so short it was hardly easy to carry it safely. Anyway, the fruit itself was even weirder. Whilst it looked big from the outside, the inside was made up of several smaller compartments with each having two to three seeds with the flesh.

And as if the looks wasn’t strange enough, the taste just drove me nuts! Mama let me try a small bit but it was enough to make me cringe in horror and stay clear from seconds.

How do adults enjoy this fruit called ‘durian’ anyway? Aren’t the thorns a clear signal that the taste is horrible? Sigh…

Vitagen Vigour

Although it is a widely known fact that almost anything that I can grab a hold of will end up in my mouth, there is something else about this Vitagen bottle that makes me want to chew it up more.

Perhaps it is the memories of the sweet taste before the bottle became empty…or it is how the shape of the bottle seemingly fits so snugly into my mouth.

Anyway, those Vitagen chaps sure knows how to make this toddler happy! :-D

View from the Throne

Although I don’t really look like I enjoy my food, one of the highlights that I enjoy about feeding time is when my feeding chair is placed on top of the normal adult chairs. Sitting high above ground gives me an elevated feeling like a king on a throne.

In addition, it is always more fun when I throw toys down on the floor from my lofty position. Hee!

Mama Mia! It’s Macaroni!

Mama made me a special dish the other day. It was also my first complete Italian meal – a full bowl of macaroni!! Never thought I could enjoy noodle-like stuff in delicious soup all by myself! Mmmmmm……thanks Mama!

I think I’m all ready for more Italian goodness now, like erm, pizza? No?

Milkshake

Now that I am no longer being fed with Mama’s goodness, I’m starting to play more with my food!

My latest circus act involves gargling milk inside my mouth after a full feed. Throw in a sneaky smile and it’s a guarantee to drive Papa and Mama crazy. Hee!

Mama Wean, I Lose

I knew the day had to come. I could read the hints for the past couple of weeks already.

About a month ago, or sometime after my first birthday, I noticed some of my feeds tasted sweeter and somehow didn’t even smell like Mama’s goodness. And more, I noticed some of my box toys started to have labels of formula milk for babies. Gasp!

That was when I realized Mama had already started to wean…which meant it won’t be long before I won’t be able to enjoy Mama’s goodness anymore. Sigh….

Hope these other Mama goodness wannabes will have the right formula to help me grow up big and strong. :-D

Going Bananas!

I have bittersweet (literally) memories of this yellow-coloured fruit. I vaguely remember about a month or so back when Papa and Mama introduced this fruit to me. It was delightfully sweet and definitely oh so much better than my perilous porridge. My smiley reactions only prompted more and more finger-fuls of banana.

No more than an hour later, I had a bad case of vomiting it all out. Sigh. I guess this could be another fine example of every rose having thorns…

Feeding and Falling Asleep…

A new talent I have recently discovered is my ability to induce sleep whenever I feel like it. This ability can be quite useful in perilous times, like eating bland porridges. Shhhhh….

During one of those feeding times, when crying, grunting and squirming didn’t work, I immediately turned to my sleeping ability and fell asleep just as a spponful of porridge went into my mouth.

I’m pretty sure this ability will also come in handy in my schooling days ahead. Hee!

Termite-nator

Reflecting on my eating habits of late, I think I could very well be a termite. Three giveaway signs include:

- easily sinks teeth into wooden chairs, tables and cots

- small and almost unnoticeable until my teeth has found wood

- can only destroy or bite from bottom level. Have not found a way to eat upwards yet

First Contact: Rice

Collected my moon #5 last week! Wee! Some key milestones that came with it:

1. Being fed rice cereal for the first time. Papa and Mama must be surprised to see me taking it in so easily and happily. :-) Mrs D also fed me some the other day and I wolfed down 1.5 tablespoons full. Mmmmm.... I must have inherited good appetite from Papa and Mama. Hee!

2. Dimension-wise not so significant growths - a little cm here, a little cm there, some kgs here and there. Maybe I will grow heavier once I start eating more solids. hey, where's my steak?!

3. On my five moon day, I went out shopping with Papa and Mama to a place called Ikano. Thought they only sold fish there, but apparently there's lot's more. Anyway, I got my first pair of shoes there! Wee! Sorry...no pics on this. Will definitely take a shot soon.

Italian Date at the Curve

Yay! I finally got to meet up with Ethan Koko in person! The last time we met was when I was sunbathing under some blue light…so technically, we didn’t meet back then.:-)

Anyway, we met up in the Curve last Saturday and had dinner together in restaurant called Italiannies. As usual, everyone seemed to enjoy these Italian delights except me…sighhh.

Here are some photos that speak for themselves…

was quite sure i could eat this without any teeth...tough luck.

papa found these bones in their salmon pasta...mmmm no good no good..

Thumbsucker

Since two weeks ago, I have started to suck my thumb, fingers, and sometimes even my entire fist! Adults seem to consider this action as a sign of growth. I also see them do it often especially after eating fried chicken.

Hmmmmm…I don’t know….my baby logic calculates that if it is a sign of growth, and the sign of growth translates into eating fried chicken, erm…it should come down to one question: Where’s my fried chicken?!!

p/s accompanying photo to come soon, hopefully....some technical problems here worrr..
